Gabriel Mulvey's work revolves around a free exploration of identity. By diverting the identities and functions of objects, beings, or situations, he creates 'clans', whose members interact and inspire each other, resemble and attract one another, confront and repel each other. He uses various media to approach, in a playful, serious, and sometimes absurd manner, themes such as intimacy, the sense of belonging, sexuality, politics, and the environment. In constructing his work, Gabriel Mulvey strives to give as much space to the unpredictable, intuition, and doubt as to the use of references and stereotypes.
His website primarily showcases completed projects, but also traces of his experiments, narratives of a permeable and evolving exploration.
